“When we leave our home country, what do we leave behind? What stays with us as a reminder of where we come from?
For me, Pappy’s Garden is more than just a story about my grandfather. It’s the story of finding solace in nature and growth, and the collective peace all of us share in the simple things that remind us of where we come from.
For my grandfather, his garden is everything. And because of that, through making this film, it has become everything to me as well.”

As Is, Where Is tells the story of a small-town rural road in Ontario, Canada with a forgotten past. Negro Creek was for decades a vibrant community of Black settlers, before many of them were labeled squatters and forced to move.
Today the name of the road is the last marker of this often-erased history. With the road name under threat, descendants and locals together are imagining alternative ways to commemorate the settlement.
